On 22 October 2025, the African region will come together to mark World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day (WSBHD25) through a dynamic Regional Side Event. This regional gathering will spotlight the power of community engagement, innovation, and advocacy in advancing the prevention of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH) across Africa.

As part of the World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus awareness month, IF is hosting a webinar named 'Inclusive Employment and Skills for Life'. The webinar will bring together voices from the SBH community as well as advocates and experts working on inclusive employment policies.

On October 1, the IF Working Group on Ageing with SBH highlighted the experiences of ageing with SBH emphasizing empowerment, independence, and inclusion across all life stages. Speakers shared inspiring stories of perseverance, dreams, and creativity, showing that with support and determination, people with SBH can lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.

October is Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, filled with inspiring events and activities organised by IF and its members across the globe.
