2025 has been a powerful reminder of the importance of youth leadership and global solidarity among young people living with SBH. As the Youth Group, we dedicated our efforts to understanding and amplifying the voices of our community, especially around mental health, identity, and disability acceptance. 

Youth camps can play a vital role in empowering young people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH). IF member organisations in various countries organise successful youth camps focusing on practical abilities such as mobility, self-care, and confidence-building, while also fostering a sense of community and belonging among participants who share similar experiences.

Established by the UN, August 12th has marked the celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) as a valuable opportunity for youth around the world to address the challenges they face and to advocate for meaningful change. To celebrate this important day, the IF International Youth Group SBH organised a webinar under the theme 'Dreaming Beyond Barriers’, bringing together young people with disabilities and youth activists from across the globe to discuss ways to advocate for a more inclusive future.

Designated by the United Nations, August 12th marks International Youth Day - a global celebration that brings the world together to raise awareness of the cultural and legal issues affecting young people.

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2024, the 1st Euregional Youth Meeting organized with Zonnebloem JONG took place in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. This one-day event was a unique opportunity for young people with disabilities from Belgium, Germany, France, Poland and the Netherlands to literally cross borders to meet and exchange on the topic of independent living. 

On August 12 the IF International Youth Group SBH celebrated the UN recognised  International Youth Day. For this year, youth started with a social media campaign and extended an invitation to all young people with SBH around the globe to amplify the voices of the youth. A particular highlight was the zoom webinar dedicated to Mental Health Matters organised by and for youth with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus around the world.
