On 8 March, the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) celebrates the UN recognized International Women’s Day (IWD). Following this year’s theme ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’, IF calls for action to dismantle structural barriers to achieve equal justice for women and girls. This includes guaranteed education, ending child marriage, women’s full participation and leadership, stronger protection against gender-based violence, non-discriminatory family, labour, and healthcare laws, bias-free, survivor-centred justice systems with zero impunity, and affordable legal aid.
This year’s theme is especially important for IF, as our highest value is the promotion and protection of the human rights of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. On the occasion of IWD, IF is organising a webinar for promoting the right to full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by women and girls with disabilities.
