The International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2021
Today on December 3rd, the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
The United Nations General Assembly declared this day in 1992 (by resolution 47/3) with the goal to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all aspects of society and development, as well as to raise awareness about their position in political, social, economic, and cultural life.
IF advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities and takes this day as an opportunity to raise awareness on Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH). SBH being a complex physical condition that touches many aspects of the lives of individuals with SBH, sensitises about disability inclusion and speaks up about their challenges and their need should help the SBH community to go forward and be heard.
