Welcome to Athina, IF’s new European Policy Officer!

26 April 2019 // IF would like to introduce its new staff member, Athina Giannoutsou, to our members, board, partners and friends. She joins our Brussels head office as our European Policy Officer, a newly established position, and will work in close cooperation with our Europe Programme Manager, Janina Arsenjeva.

With extensive experience in Europan affairs, Athina will be the main liaison between IF’s European members and the EU institutions, representing the issues of people living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (SBH) in the EU, and ensuring that their voices will be heard in the policy-making processes.

Here’s Athina’s own introduction:

‘I started working as European Policy Officer with IF in April 2019. 

Being passionate about social rights and human rights issues, I am really excited to put my deep insight of European policy and soft skills into practice and advocate for the rights of people with SBH. While my previous experience on disability rights issues is limited, I have always been committed to improving the lives of others both professionally and personally through my involvement in civil society organizations.

Before joining IF, I worked as advisor for Members of the European Parliament for 4 years’.
