Celebrating Women with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus on the International Women’s Day 2024!
Description
Celebrating Women with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus on the International Women’s Day 2024!
Every year, the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) proudly marks International Women’s Day (#IWD) on March 8th, uniting our global community. We extend an invitation to activists, leaders, innovators, and change-makers committed to shaping an equal future.
IF places a strong emphasis on maternal health and empowering women with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH). Our dedication is further evident through partnerships, including our advisory role to UN Women and as the project holder for the distinctive Smarter Futures partnership. The IF international working group on sexual health fosters meaningful discussions, exploring topics like equality, motherhood, and sexuality.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”. In the pursuit of prosperous economies and a healthier planet, achieving gender equality and prioritising women’s well-being is now more critical than ever. Together, we can invest in women, accelerate progress, and pave the way for a more equitable and sustainable world.Â
On this significant day, it’s crucial to recognise that women with disabilities face dual challenges related to both gender and disability. Article 6 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities acknowledges the intersectionality of discrimination faced by women and girls with disabilities.
