Updated peadiatric urological guidelines for children and adolescents with Spina Bifida

30 April 2026

We are pleased to share that a new publication, “EAU – ESPU – ERN eUROGEN – ERN ITHACA – ERN ERKNet – IFSBH Guidelines on Spinal Dysraphism in Children and Adolescents: Summary of the Guideline”, is now available online as open access.

This publication builds on the updated paediatric urological guidelines for Spina Bifida released last year and represents a continued effort to improve care for children and adolescents with spinal dysraphism, including Spina Bifida.

IFSBH has developed, in collaboration with leading European networks and partners, including ERN eUROGEN, ERN ITHACA, ERN ERKNet, EAU and ESPU, these guidelines that reflect a multidisciplinary and patient-centred approach to care.

They aim to support healthcare professionals with up-to-date, evidence-based recommendations, while also contributing to better coordination of care across countries.

This work highlights the importance of strong partnerships in advancing quality of care and improving health outcomes for people with SBH.

We are also pleased that some of the partners involved in this work will join us at the upcoming International Conference on Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in Montréal, where quality of life will be a key topic of discussion.
