VICTORIA SANDOVAL – ELECTED IF PRESIDENT

Victorial Sandoval is the new President of IF – The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. She succeeds the former president Cato Lie.

IF is the international organization representing people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH) and their families worldwide. The organization founded in 1979, represents Member Associations in countries all over the world, comprising a network of organization possessing a unique and expert knowledge on Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH).

Victoria is a woman with Spina Bifida and has extensive work experience in the field of political advocacy. She is an active member at the Asociación Guatemalteca de Espina Bífida (AGEB) in Guatemala, and her efforts are dedicated to find ways to strengthening the advocacy work on persons with disabilities. Furthermore, as a member of the IF Board of Directors, Victoria has been a pivotal piece in regional work in developing closer ties and collaboration with the Latin American region.

Additionally, Victoria’s interest and activities on a wide range of topics allows her to have a good understanding of the needs of our global community. She regularly uses her voice and participation in a variety of activities to further accelerate our global efforts.

During the IF General Meeting on June 5 2024, Victoria expressed her gratitude for the International Federation and the role IF has in her personal life as well as on the lives of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus around the globe. She mentioned: “My candidacy for Presidency, and in that sense with respect to any position within IF, can only be fulfilled through the different members of IFSBH.  I hope to be able to work alongside you and your organizations in order to improve the quality of life of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and their families, and to reduce the prevalence of neural tube defects and Hydrocephalus by primary prevention. Thank you for your trust in me”.
