On September 16 2023, IF youth member LauraRosillo Beneyto represented the global disability community on behalf of IF and IDA at the youth pillar "Torchbearers for the SDGs: Meaningful Youth Engagement & the 2030 Agenda" during the SDG Action Weekend as part of the SDG Summit at the UN Headquarter in New York. The IF International Youth Group SBH was present during the Independent Living Day at the European Parliament, Brussels. An important day to raise awareness on the topic of independent living: “Every person has the right to live where he wants, with whom he wants. Everyone has the right to manage his own life” - Kateryna Shcherbyna.

On April 21, 2023, the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus held its spring webinar titled "Women with Disabilities in Conflict and Crisis" with the aim of better understanding the risks and vulnerabilities faced by women in conflicts and crises as well as the opportunities and resources available to support women and girls with disabilities who are impacted by conflicts and crises.

With a new IF statement, The International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF) is calling for urgent action demanding universal mandatory food fortification with vitamin B9 (folic acid) to reduce the risk of Spina Bifida, Anencephaly, or Encephalocele, also called Neural Tube Defects (NTDs).

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) opened a call for submissions in June 2022. The call was for comments and suggested amendments to the ‘Draft Guidelines on Deinstitutionalization, including in emergencies’.

On the 17th of June IF attended the launch event of the WHO World Mental Health Report: Transforming Mental Health for All. Mental health is a vital aspect of wellbeing for everyone but it is topic which is faces stigma and discrimination, lack of investment and prioritisation by health systems. This is particularly true for persons with disabilities, a problem which youth with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus have been raising awareness of through the activities of IF’s International Youth Group.
