Gambia (LKH)
Description
The organisation was led by Dodou Keita and Fatou Jobe Keita, named after their son Lamin Keita, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida Disease when he was still being carried by her mother, at 18 weeks of pregnancy in 2010. As a result of our passion to help other children and families, we co-founded Lamin Keita’s Hope nonprofit. We are both advocates, fighting for the right for all families to have access to the same resources and healthcare and to ensure that they are receiving health equity and the best possible support. We are both too familiar with all the demands, difficulties, and challenges of living with and managing a child with SB.The Lamin Keita’s Hope Care program provides the much needed support for families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus in The Gambia. We also provide them with resources, tools, and most importantly, a circle of support as they navigate through this often long and stressful journey of caring for their children.
