Description
The Zambia Association for Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida (ZAHSB) was established on 7th July 2005 and currently consists of 5 support groups in Lusaka, Livingston, Kitwe, Chipata and Ndola.
ZAHSB aims at improving the quality of life of people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SBH) by providing a variety of programmes and social services including a help-line facility (24/7), self-support skills training, capacity building and networking among stakeholders, parents and families, youth adults living with SBH, continence management training, folic acid advocacy, educational workshops and seminars, an annual educational conference with medical professionals, regular medical grants, scholarship programmes for affected students/scholars and public awareness programmes and lobby government for introduction of inclusive education as opposed to special education.
