BethanyKids’ Mobile Clinic in Kenya helps thousands of children with disabilities
29 May 2018 // Our partner in Kenya, BethanyKids, produced a movie about their Mobile Clinic and how it operates across Kenya. BethanyKids is a Christian mission providing pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, and public education to African children with disabilities.
In 2017, the Mobile Clinic team saw over 3.600 children in Kenya and performed about 6.000 therapy sessions which were provided to children at the Joytown Primary School in Kenya. The Mobile Clinic’s team visits about 15 sites all over Kenya several times a year. It makes it possible to reach out to families who need follow-up care for their children after they have been through surgery. This way, the families receive support closer to their own home and do not have to pay for travelling costs.
The team consists of 3 nurses, 1 occupational therapist, 1 social worker, 1 parent mentor and a driver. These people make up an excellent team to provide good treatment and care. To get to the villages they are using a van which was provided by IF’s partner Child-Help.
IF has been offering long-time support to this programme and is very pleased about the Mobile Clinics’ progress in reaching out to so many children with surgical conditions and disabilities in Kenya.
